There are all kinds of reasons to have your portrait taken.
You may need photographs for your business. You may be celebrating something important. You may want to capture your family, or simply want beautiful photographs of yourself at this particular point in your life.
Whatever brings you here, the process starts with getting to know what you want from your photographs.
Together, we'll plan a session around you—how you want to be photographed, what you want the images to feel like and what you ultimately want to do with them.
You don't need to know exactly what that looks like before you come to me. We'll figure that out together.
WHAT MAKES THIS EXPERIENCE DIFFERENT?
I don't believe a good photoshoot is about taking as many photographs as possible and hoping we find the right ones afterward.
I would rather slow down and create each photograph with intention.
We start with a conversation. I want to know why you want to be photographed, what you're drawn to and what you want from the finished images.
From there, we'll think through wardrobe, hair and makeup, location, lighting and the other details that make the photographs feel considered and complete.
The goal isn't just to give you a lot of options. It's to create photographs you'll actually want to keep.
DO I NEED TO KNOW WHAT I WANT?
Not at all.
You may come to me with an entire folder of inspiration and a particular outfit you've been waiting to wear. Or you may simply know that you want to be photographed and have no idea what that should look like yet.
Both are perfectly good places to start.
Part of my job is helping you figure out what will photograph beautifully and what feels right for you. I'll bring ideas and direction to the process, but we'll make those decisions together.
WHAT HAPPENS BEFORE THE PHOTOSHOOT?
We'll plan your session before we ever start taking photographs.
We'll talk about what you're looking for, how you want to be photographed, wardrobe, styling, where we'll shoot and how you plan to use the finished images.
Some sessions may be relatively simple. Others may involve hair and makeup, multiple looks, a specific location or more production.
It all depends on what we're creating.
WHAT IF I'M NOT COMFORTABLE IN FRONT OF A CAMERA?
That's completely normal.
I can probably count on one hand the number of people I've photographed who genuinely love having their picture taken. Most people aren't used to being in front of a camera, and I don't expect you to know what to do.
I'll guide you through the entire process. I'll help you with posing, posture, your hands, where to look and all of the small adjustments that make a difference in a photograph.
My goal is for you to feel relaxed, taken care of and never like you're standing in front of a camera wondering what you're supposed to do.
You don't have to know how to be photographed. That's my job.
CAN THIS BE FOR MY BUSINESS?
Absolutely.
If you need photographs for your business, we'll start by understanding what you actually need them to do.
We'll consider where the photographs will be used, who needs to see them and what you want them to communicate about you and your work.
Professional photographs don't have to feel generic or overly corporate. They can still be thoughtful, interesting and feel like you.
The purpose may be different, but I approach them with the same level of intention.
HOW DO WE CHOOSE WHAT TO CREATE?
We start with you.
Sometimes an outfit gives us the direction. Sometimes it's a location, a color, an image you saw in a magazine or simply a way you've always wanted to see yourself.
I don't want everyone I photograph to leave with a different version of the same portrait.
I'll bring my perspective and experience to the session, but I'm creating the photographs specifically for the person standing in front of my camera.
They should feel like they could only have been made for you.
WHAT HAPPENS AFTER THE PHOTOSHOOT?
After your session, we'll come together to look through the photographs.
You'll choose the portraits you love and decide what you want to keep. The photographs you select will receive my finished retouching, with the option of digital images, printed artwork or both.
I want the final photographs to feel finished without making you look like someone else.
They're photographs of you—just photographed with intention, carefully lit, styled and finished.
HOW DOES THE INVESTMENT WORK?
Your session begins with a $495 retainer, which reserves your date and begins the planning process.
Portrait collections begin at $1,200, with the $495 retainer applied toward the collection you choose.
You'll receive the complete investment information before booking so you can understand the process, what's included and the options available to you before making a decision.
